I've been doing the IBS diet fairly regularly but the diet aggrivates my yeast allergies - any thoughts there. Also does anyone think this could be causing weight gain?

I've had trouble with weight gain since my IBS with C has been very active over the last few months. A total of almost 20 pounds without really eating more or less than before. My boyfriend says I eat as healthy as he does (chicken, tofu, and fish with lots of veggies and usually a starch for the IBS but I keep gaining weight. I had my thyroid checked and it's ok as well as my sugar levels.

Help! Does anyone kow how to lose weight on IBS?

Thanks.

PS - I work out 4 -6 times a week including cardio and weight training...

as far as the yeast allergies go, you didn't add back in foods that are not supposed to be eaten, did you? i don't know much about the whole yeast thing, but are you supposed to eliminate the foods forever, or just for a while? tell me more about this, i am quite interested!

if you're supposed to always be yeast-free, then just follow those regulations added to Heather's suggestions. for example, i believe i have an intolerance to gluten, so i don't eat wheat products. i eat all of the stuff Heather's diet allows with the exception of breads and other wheat products. it's working very nicely for me (when i don't cheat on the gluten free thing ).

as for the weight gain, i don't really know what could be causing it. i recommend a food journal so you can count calories. it's quite possible you're taking in more calories than you're used to or you need. for example, i know i have to cut back my smoothies 'cause even though that's fruit, it's still a good portion of my calorie allotment for the day! when IBSers go on this diet and start feeling better, they may eat bigger portions than they should or eat more calories just from the sheer joy of being able to eat again!

good luck.
