Hey Guys,
I just got home from having my upper abdominal ultrasound (piece of cake) and upper GI (not quite so easy). I'm just wondering, does anyone have any tips for dealing with the gas and discomfort afterwards? They made me swallow these gas producing crystals before the barium, and ordered me not to burp or anything, and now I'm just feeling disgusting, like there's all this trapped gas and I'm just worried for when it hits my intestines because I figure it's going to hurt.
I figured I'll try the fennel tea, has anyone else found anything helpful? Is it ok to eat after the test? I forgot to ask while I was there, but do you have to do anything to get the barium out of your system does anyone know? Just drink a lot?
Thanks,
Kelly

Get some Fennel in you girl! And do some yoga to burp it up before it hits you lower down - Foward bends, esp. with fists on your belly, help.

I just had the upper GI a couple months ago, not much fun! I am IBS C and I was pooping out the white barium stuff for over 2 weeks!!!! Be sure to drink a TON of water, you do NOT want that stuff to dry out in your colon! Try to keep moving around, go for a long walk to help break up and get out some of those bubbles. Hope you feel better soon!
