I've just switched to acacia...I had been takig Citrucel 3x a day....Each scoop of Citrucel contains 2 grams of fiber- so I as taking in 6 grams...still with me...Now with the Acacia I'm taking 1 teaspoon full 3x a day. The way I calculate it there are three teaspoons in a Tablespoon, so I should be getting just 4.5 grams of Acacia fiber a day....( One tablespoon =3 teaspoons=4.5 grams)When I tried to up it to 2 tespoons 3x a day I got terrible gas-what is the usual time to switch over with this stuff...BTW- thank you all for your support- I referred my GI and interninst to the website....

Hi Evan! Try staying with your current dose of 1 t three times a day to get a bit used to the Acacia. Then you can increase your dose by 1/2 t per dose, and see how that goes. If you get a big increase in gas/bloating, you'll know that you've gone with too high a dose too quickly. Slow and steady is better here.

People really vary in how quickly they can raise their dose of a soluble fiber supplement. Some folks can go to a large dose really quickly, other folks have to start very low and build up over weeks, or even a few months. Just listen to your body here. It's not a race to get to a high dose as quickly as possible, your goal is to find a dose that keeps your gut stable, and increase gradually so you don't have to deal with extra bloating and gas.
