I just started taking the Acacia fiber a few days ago (I ordered it awhile ago but was trying other things first). So anyway, since starting it I notice that it makes my symptoms worse! I'm only taking 1 teaspoon a day, and I measure it out so it's not like I'm accidently taking too much. Should I lower it down to 1/2 teaspoon? How long should it take my system to get used to it?

Hello,
I too started the Acacia at 1 teaspoon, but I split it over two doses (1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening)...are you taking it all at once?
I'm usually fairly sensitive to fiber and I didn't notice much other than a bit more bloating when I started taking it, but I think splitting it up really helped.
Good luck!
Kelly

I have had the same response to fiber supplements. It makes me wonder how much good it is really doing since it makes me feel so bloated.

I have stopped taking fiber for a while.

What were you taking before the acacia? You should start out with the same dosage. Kelly's right; take half in the morning and half before dinner. 1 teaspoon a day isn't very much (I started out at twice that), but if it's bothering you, cut it back a little and start out even slower.

It takes a few weeks before you'll want to begin increasing it. I increased mine to four times my beginning dose over a four month period.

Don't give up on it yet; a few days isn't very much time. Your body just needs a little more time to adjust.

Thanks guys. Bevrs I used to take Benefiber but I ran out and wasn't taking any fiber for awhile. I'm going to try taking half a teaspoon twice a day. Also, I know I can tolerate Benefiber, so I think I'm going to get that and take both for awhile and see if that can help things along. Do you think taking both together would be too much? Or would it help? I really hope my digestive system gets used to the Acacia, I really like the idea of it also being a probiotic! How long did it take you guys to get used to it?
