I noticed that some of you have said that acacia has given you gas and gas pains. I was wondering if you kept on taking it and still have the same problems?? I just started mine 3 days ago and the last 2 days have had what I think are gas pains and I dont usually get them in the daytime like I am right now. I really would like to keep taking it and was hoping this was something that will eventually go away. I read about it and saw that acacia is actually supposed to reduce gas so is it even possible for it to cause gas? I would love any advice! =)

Well, I've been on it for 4 months now. I had terrible gas before I took it, and I still have terrible gas. It's not acacia's fault. However, it seems to have gotten a little better, and I believe it's due to the probiotics I started taking.

I did have a problem with the acacia when I started increasing it too soon; my body wasn't accustomed to it yet. I had REALLLLY bad gas and bloating pain -- then Heather discovered I was using serving spoons to measure with (instead of measuring spoons). Duh. When I followed the directions (isn't that a novel idea?), I was fine.

I'm a very gassey person and when I first started the acacia, I was a little worse. I backed off the dosage and slowly increased it and the extra gas it was producing went away. Come to think about it, my gas has been less overall the last month or two. I think I started taking it just after the first of the year, so I would say after the initial period it HAS reduced my gas! Thats not to say I don't ever get gassey but now I can usually recal eating something I shouldn't have instead of ALWAYS being gassey! Stick with it a while longer, maybe drop your dose a bit for a while if you need but you should see improvemnet!

i have been taking the acacia and found it to be quite helpful.

my tips for taking it: go SLOOOOOOOWLY when you add it. and give yourself a few days to get used to it. i took 1 tsp in the AM and 1 tsp in the PM for weeks before i was able to add a third tsp. i haven't added any more (yet) 'cause of some other health stuff... i just haven't put my mind to it. when i added it and when i changed doses, i had about 3 or 4 days of increased gas. my body wasn't used to the soluble fiber! it's probably fairly normal... if you're body isn't used to something, it's going to go through some adjustments. i drink copious amounts of fennel tea during does changes-- and i mean copious amounts! i drank so much fennel tea it seemed i was constantly running to the kitchen for more or the bathroom to "process it." but i noticed a definite improvement in gas and distension and pain when i did that... after 2 or 4 days, i can cut the fennel tea down to nothing if i want and have no problems...

Im taking 1 tsp in the morning and then 1 tsp in the evening - should this be reduced at all or just stick with 2 tsp for awhile and see what happens?

Love this stuff!! I went exactly by the measured doses, 1t in the AM and one in the PM, with no problems. I used it a week that way before adding a third teaspoon. After another week, I tried the 4th, but backed off because my system kind of rebelled. I will try the 4th again soon. This stuff has changed my life! I also take a peppermint tab every time I dose with acacia, and I am good to go!! Hope it helps you as much!

Hi - If you noticed extra bloating and gas, then drop your dose to 1/2 tsp. twice a day. Stick with that for a while (unless you still notice bloating/gas, then drop to 1/4 t twice daily) and then gradually increase. You ideally want to start at a low enough dose that your gut tolerates it with no problem, and then just slowwwwwly increase to give your gut time to adjust.
