Hey Gerry - I'm sorry you're feeling down. Have you tried different recipes to try to mix it up?
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Gerry, I also have to cook two meals. It gets tiresome, doesn't it? I know just what you mean about not wanting to eat. By the time you get around to getting everything cooked, you're just so tired and bored with it, that it's just not fun to eat!!
My family DOES like fish, chicken, and turkey; but they also have to have their beef and pork and lots of it! Yuk! Anyway, I know how you feel about this.
I've tried to get my husband and son to eat what I eat, but they hate it. I've tried sneaking turkey meat in recipes, but it didn't work.
Here's what I do to make things a little easier. When I fix my chicken or whatever, I fix enough for several days and refrigerate or freeze it. Then all I have to do is heat it up. It helps eliminate a little of the cooking hassle at dinner time.
I usually have vegey soup with pasta in it for lunch. I can fix a pan of that, heat it up a bowl at a time for lunch, and it lasts me all week. I do sandwiches or leftovers for my guys for lunch.
This way, mine is pretty much taken care of, and my main dish cooking is for them. I hope this helps a little, Terri

Hey why do you two bother cooking two dinners! Make a stand girls! If you cook something delicious that just happens to be either chicken, fish or turkey and they DON'T want it, then why don't they cook their own dinners! Men are such fuss-pots and they're only missing out by refusing to eat whole ranges of food! Or alternatively, get them a load of ready made meat meals so all you do is stick it in the oven. Bet, they'll be wanting your peachy chicken or grilled fish soon enough! Or, they could always just have sausages when you have turkey fillets, etc. I'd NEVER make two separate dinners. The most we ever do is do one dinner, but with meat in half and something for me in the other half.

I hate cooking two different dinners myself but do it as hubby still wants the bad stuff, so I don't enjoy cooking anymore. I find I can eat red meat with no problems even though it's on the bad list. Everyone is different.

Yes, this is the story of my life, too! In fact, I am so bored with cooking and eating that I just can't be bothered to fuss at all. I've just lost all interest in cooking and the three shelves of cookbooks in my bookcase are just collecting dust. I just make one large pot of whatever (usually something with turkey) on Sunday afternoon and I eat the leftovers for dinner every night (Monday to Thursday) because I don't have time to cook when I get home from work and I can't have anything ready made.
If friends visit, I usually have to make them a separate meal.
On the bright side, I am trying out chicken, turkey and fish dishes with some wonderful new organic dried herbs I recently found. I bought the herbs at Pusateri's in Toronto and the aroma / flavour is devine!

Gerry, I guess I'm lucky I'm such a big fan of chicken, because otherwise the few meats we can eat would get old pretty quickly. But I could eat chicken almost every day of the week. I agree with Mags, there are SO many different ways to make fish and poultry, maybe you just need to try something different and change things up! I hope you cheer up soon and find something new and yummy!

I have never enjoyed cooking because I never knew when I would eat something that would make me sick. I do not have a love of food and for many years have just eaten because I have to. Now it seems to take so much effort just to eat a meal. I have to think about everything I put in my mouth. My husband is on the Atkins diet so we are eating completely opposite things. My kids will say we are having chicken again! My 18 yo son wants meat all the time and doesn't eat seafood at all. My youngest daughter is more felxiable will eat just about anything I cook and she loves the bread, etc.
We have a George Foreman grill which is great and my husband will usually cook meat for them and chicken or fish for me and everything can be cooked at the same time in the same way. I love that grill because it has made our lives much easier as far as cooking for different appetites.

Honey, I'm sorry you're so down.
You need a little chat with hubby about this two-meal stuff. Why can't he have dead cow when you go out to eat and then have what YOU can have at home? Doesn't he want to support you? Cooking two meals all the time sucks.
How about an alternative to meat and fish or poultry? Have you ever tried Kree's incredible mac & cheese? (I can't recall whether or not you like soy cheese.) It's a fabulous dish (I add peas to mine -- and extra cheese too). What about something like my ham & cheese "party strata?" You can use turkey ham, and hubby wouldn't even know the difference. (Except doesn't he do all the cooking in your household?) You could use dead pig ham and just pick it out of your portion (it's cubed).
Hubby doesn't eat salmon? Grilled salmon? On the BBQ? Are you SURE? Don't all men love ANYTHING on the barbie? I thought that just came with the territory. Men = BBQ. BBQ = men. There's nothing better than a nice grilled salmon filet! YUM.
Okay, how about pasta? Does hubby not like spaghetti? REALLY? Check out my crock pot spaghetti sauce. My hubby LOVES it! He always asks me to make it for him.
What about tortellinis? You can get them with meat. He could have the meat and you could have the chicken. Chicken tortellinis with pasta sauce. Ooooh, baby!
Don't let that blood sugar level drop. What about a grilled cheese sandwich? Easy to fix and DELICIOUS. Get yourself some "veggie slices" (American flavor) and slap a few between two slices of bread and either mike it or toss on the griddle with some soy "butter". YUMMMY!
See, now you can understand why I have a weight problem....
