Anybody have trouble with salty foods--like pretzels? I have an immediate "saline cathartic" effect from large amounts of pretzels--or even one cup of salty boullion cube soup!

Nope -- salt doesn't bother me at all -- and I am a D.

I'm also a D and salt doesn't bother me -- EXCEPT that it causes high blood pressure. My blood pressure is already borderline high, so I have cut salt out of my diet entirely. No pretzels, no Lay's baked chips, nothing like that. And I don't own a salt shaker. Salt is not my friend.
Salt is a good thing to avoid as we get older.

What is "saline cathartic"? I'm IBS-D and have to consume lots of salt to raise my low BP. I don't think it contributes to my D because things are so much better now for me and I still consume lots of salt.

This is my first time posting to the boards, hope I don't mess up. But I agree that salt (for some of us) is a bad thing. I have high blood pressure so it is a definite no no. Since I found this site and have been following your advice and recipes I feel much better. No attacks so far and it has been 2 weeks. Plus my husband has enjoyed the recipes I tried. Thanks to all for your input.

Man - that's sad! Thankfully - I have really low blood pressure -- so I don't have to worry about it that much. I don't pour it on... but I don't go without either.
