My daughter is feeling a lot better following the diet, but has lost an extreme amount of weight by giving up dairy, fried and fatty foods. H ow can she put on some weight, since most high calorie foods are no-nos? I'm getting worried. Can she safely start eating some foods with cheese or dairy if she takes fiber beforehand?

What a terrific mom you are! Will you adopt me please?

My problem is the exact opposite of your daughter's. So lets see, what am I eating that's making me gain weight?

First of all, do you know how to go into the recipe board and search for recipes? Check out the recipes in there. For example, my chocolate banana frostie recipe is VERY low in fat -- totally IBS-safe. However, it's VERY high in calories. As my doctor told me (over and OVER and OVER again!): "Calories in, calories out!" If your daughter has a frostie, which is somewhere around 325 calories (something like that), and she expends only 200, guess what?

There are a lot of IBS-safe recipes that are low fat (but high calorie). Does she like chocolate? Check out our infamous ADBs (Anti-depressant brownies); we're all hooked on them! They're FABULOUS! Or what about Heather's marvelous cocoa Rice Krispy Treats? Yep, certain of us here (who shall remain nameless) are addicted to them as well (but deny it 'cause they're WEAK!) Check out the recipe: web page They're really easy to make, and be sure to add the cocoa! YUM!

Dairy is a no-no. It's a big trigger. You want to be sure that everything you make is dairy-free. That means checking the ingredients of everything! You'd be amazed at what they sneak milk into!

You can substitute soy for dairy. Is there a good health food store near you? Soy cheese. Soy milk. Soy "ice cream" -- oooh! How could I forget? MOCHA FUDGE! It's my very fave. It's soy "ice cream." Soy Dream Mocha Fudge Non-Dairy Dessert. To die for. Or how about Tofuti Cuties? Does your daughter like ice cream samiches? Oooooh, she'll love Tofuti Cuties. Peanut butter is my fave, but the vanilla is good too.

See? I can EASILY gain weight on this program! TOO Easily. Oh, and while you're at the health food store, stock up on Amy's frozen SOY CHEESE PIZZA! YUMMMMMMMM!

Damn I'm hungry.

Bev's right. It's just a matter of consuming more calories, not more fat. Well, I mean, if you consume more calories odds are more fat will come with them, but it will be dispersed over food, not concentrated.

I wish I had that problem too.

Anyway, check out the IBS recipes... bunches of them have more calories than I can consume.
