It's out! YEAH!! I called my GP on call yesterday and she advised me to take a magnesium citrate supplement, which I did, but to no avail. I was still plugged up and in moderately severe pain with lots of gas. SOoooooooo.....the next step she said would be to do the Fleet enema. Okay, that was NOT COOL. I was not real happy doing that. But....IT WORKED!!!!!!!!! And, get this, I am STILL going now, 16 hours later. I had THAT MUCH JUNK to pass.
Okay.....from here on out, then, what should I be eating? Today I had a bowl of french onion soup without the cheese, and a sourdough bagel with 2 T. hummus.
Thanks so much to EVERYONE for all your helpful input!
Jen

Hey Jen! Glad to hear you're feeling better - or at least going, that is.
Were you taking the magnesium supplement before? If not, try to keep taking it, because it's supposed to help with C - I do calcium for the D.
Just keep eating the way you have been, but maybe you need to up your insoluble a little. Try making the smoothie (banana makes a great soluble base, then just add berries, peaches, etc.). How do you do with oatmeal or brown rice? They have a little more insoluble, but are generally well tolerated.
I know you get plenty of exercise. You said the acacia was working for you, right? Maybe it's time to up your dose (you're only at 1 T in the am, 1 T in the pm, right?). Of course, keep the water going so the fiber can do it's job.
Let us know how you make out.

I shouldn't laugh, it's not funny. It's just that you're so cute. And we all know how you feel. So pardon me, but -- may I laugh?

Jen, I'm so happy to hear that you are better! Ugh! I understand your discomfort all too well. I find that I start to have problems if I don't get enough insoluble fiber; and one of my biggest prevention steps is SLEEP! When I first read that on the boards about sleep; I thought it must be bologna! But, I've realized since then, that when I don't sleep enough or I don't sleep well, I ALWAYS have problems. I'm hoping that you find something that works for you. Arghh! It can be so frustrating! I have a question for you. Was the magnesium in a pill or liquid? I haven't seen it anywhere and I just want to know. Terri

It was a lemon-lime liquid that you mix with water, but you have to drink 1/2 to the whole bottle....it's a 6 oz. bottle, and it is a bit tart....but it is just plain magnesium citrate, generic. You can find it at the grocery store or Wal Mart.

Isn't Citrate of Magnesia the stuff they sometimes give you as a pre colonoscopy prep?
