Hey all!! I haven't stepped on the scale since I started this diet (about 3 1/2-4 weeks ago) and today I noticed that my pants were a little loose...so I had to wear a belt.
Well...I just stepped on the scale and I've lost 10 pounds!! I wasn't even trying to lose weight...but was a tiny bit on the heavier side for my height...so this is a real bonus!!
This week is looking up for me...new meds, lost some weight...what break up?? haha....
Thanks for listening!!

First, Congrats, that is wonderful! Second, I wanted to ask, what meds are you on now? And, what is your typical daily menu? I am still trying to create a menu I can stick with and be happy.
Your help is greatly appreciated! Happy

Hey all...I have no secret...honestly!! I just started following Heather's diet and before I knew it I had lost 10 pounds!! Here's my typical meal:
Breakfast: bowl of instant oatmeal and peppermint tea
Snack: graham crackers (sometimes with dried apricots)
Lunch: turkey breast on toasted bagel (small amount of lettuce/mustard) and sometimes a banana. Peppermint tea
Snack: rice cakes
Dinner: campbell's tomatoe rice soup, 2 slices of toasted white bread OR chow mein noodles with tofu OR pasta with tomatoe sauce, etc (you get the idea) and a glass of vanilla soy milk.
Snack: (if I'm feeling like munching) dry honey comb, or small bowl of sorbet, pretzels, baked lays, etc.
I don't know if I'm eating exactly right...but it seems to be working for me....

So no sweets? No Rice Krispy Treats? No ADBs? No chocolate pudding? Hmmm..... I'm beginning to see a pattern here ....

Wow, good for you! That's a nice suprise, 'accidently' losing some weight.. especially 10 lbs worth of weight! I was wondering, can you let me know how the Modulon is working for you? I am in the UK now, but when I was back in Canada, it was suggested to me but I never really started taking them since I was moving back here so soon. I am going back to Canada in December, though, and wouldn't mind a heads-up and how it's working for someone else? Thanks! And congrats again! --Steph

I will definately keep you updated on how Modulon is working for me. I haven't started it yet...waiting until the weekend cuz I'm worried a might get some weird side effects for the first couple days and I don't wanna be at work when/if that happens!!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

haha...I do eat sweets sometimes...but they aren't part of my daily diet. Sometimes on the weekends I'll have something sweet. I've also had lots of family birthday parties to attend in the past couple of weeks...so I've cheated a tiny bit and ate some cake (which I know is sooo bad - but I couldn't resist)...but typically I stay away from sweets and luckily I don't really crave them.
ALTHOUGH....with all this talk about rice krispie treats...I may have to try them...

Don't do it, Girlfriend!
They're SOOOOOO addictive! You can't eat just one.
I have a tray-full of Heather's incredible cocoa Rice Krispy treats, and I'm going to have to put them all down the garbage disposal. Unfortunately, I just don't think I have it in me to do it -- I'll have to ask hubby to do it for me.
I'm beginning to get the picture that my problem is sugar. This kind of safe treat is my downfall. Because it's safe, I eat a lot of it, instead of a half bagel or a roll or some leftover rice or pasta. So my intake of sugar is very high. I'm gonna try to "cold turkey it" and see if I don't see a change on the scales.

Well good luck!! You know we're all here if you need support!!
Now I'm gonna go see about those rice krispy treats (don't worry I'll be able to control myself...and if I get too crazy with them I'll just get my dad to eat them)!!!

Good luck Bev! Cold turkey is hard for me.I have to do things slow...cut back each day a little more!!! I think I have pretty good will power when it comes to the diet. But sugar...oh that's a hard one! I really should be careful with sugar..my sister is a diabetic so is my grandpa and grandma. I really need to cut back too!!!
We can do it!!!

Hubby is running the garbage disposal as we speak. It's TORTURE! I tried to block his way, but he shoved me aside, like an old worn-out shoe.
ARGH!!!!

I don't eat it. Period. Even with the prednisone. Dairy is my downfall right now. And it's not upsetting my tummy. I crave it with the pred. My bod can't absorb calcium well right now so it CRAVES dairy like it's going out of style. (There is SOME sugar in dairy...but I don't eat any processed or refined sugar. I hardly use sugar substitutes either!)
The only sugar I get is in fruit and in my yogurt and cereal. My cereal has 8g per cup and my yogurt has 8g per serving as well. (The yogurt sugar is from the fruit mostly though). I even cut down my fruit intake to minimize the natural sugar my bod gets.
I can't say for sure if it helps in the losing weight depart....it hasn't helped me....but it helps most ppl!
You can do it Bev! I did it cold turkey--you can too! (Btw, I have "relapses" so if you do too, don't feel bad!)
Let me know how I can help and what your game plan is!
Love, Ruchie

Bev you poor thing!!! Even though you feel depressed about no sugar you sure can make me laugh.
Good luck with the sugar. It won't be easy. My down fall is hard candy and after last night I don't want any for along time!! There is something in hard candy that causes me to bloat and hurt my stomach. All I had was six life savers.

Maybe you're swallowing lots of air when you're eating the candy?? That can cause tummy troubles....
I know what you mean though...I'm a sucker for jolly ranchers

Never thought of swallowing too much air. That can be it. I also think the food coloring can cause problems. One of my children gets hyperactive and angery after eating foods with msg and red and yellow food coloring.
Like some of you I don't eat sugar everyday - only crave it during PMS. I have PMS right now and doing my best to avoid sugar at the suggestion of my GYN to help with my symptoms.

Okay, fellow dieter, how'd you do today? I'm checking up on ya!
I did pretty good. But I was craving something sweet really bad around 2:00, so I had some Ghirardelli cocoa. Good thing hubby tossed the ADBs and RKTs (Rice Krispy Treats)!
Other than the cocoa, I had no sugar. Not even in my tea. That's pretty good for me, so I'd say today was a success. Really, not having sugar helped a lot with my appetite -- I wasn't NEARLY as hungry as I usually am.
What about you, Girlfriend? How'd you do? How are you feeling tonite?

Bev, Kudos on the sugar elimination. Girl, if you could quit Jack Daniels and coffee, sugar will be no problem for you, now that you're out of denial about it. Good for you, from one drama queen to another!
