Colon cleansing

I'm not sure about other people's experiences but my naturopath sold me a colon cleanse a while back and I didn't find it helped at all.
I think it's a glorified laxative really. It's made from Magnesium and it gave me pretty bad D and I'm IBS-C.
Maybe other people have had better experiences but I wouldn't recommend it. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif)

Sometimes this refers to laxatives and sometimes to colonics (or enemas). Either way, I'd be afraid to use this for myself or anyone else with IBS. We are too over-reactive to stimulations of the colon, to the point where we can perceive even normal gut contractions as pain. Doing anything that interferes, whether chemically or physically, with the normal bowel contractions is likely to cause some severe IBS attacks. I'd be really careful here.
