I'm wondering for those who have been here a while how your IBS is doing! Does anyone feel like it under control? I'm having a hard time stabalizing! I know there is a lot more I could be doing to get stable. How has everyone else managed to do it? What was the best thing that has helped you?

Thanks for any input!!!

Hey Steph!

Didja get your Winsor pilates yet?

Yeah, I would say my IBS is under control. I've had a few attacks in the past couple of months, but they weren't severe, were short-lived, and I figured out what caused each one. Yeah, I would say I'm under control, Girlfriend!

You're having a hard time getting stabilized? Are you keeping a food diary? It may seem trivial or time-consuming (and it is, really), but you'd be surprised how you can discover things you didn't realize you were doing. Okay, I'm gonna make a confession here, just to demonsrate what I mean. No, never mind. I can't do it. I'll come across as the biggest dummie. Suffice it to say that I discovered a very stupid thing I did that caused my last attack -- and I discovered it by way of my food diary.

I haven't had an attack since.

And, yes, I'm eating fruits and veggies -- the RIGHT way.

Now if I could just lose a little weight .......

Well, I've been on such a safe diet in the last few weeks , mostly trying new soluables first that I hadn't tried before and haven't given up beef but don't have for instance beef two days in a row. I've had steaks and hamburgers before with no problem but one time I had one for lunch and then went out to dinner. There was nothing and I mean nothing safe to eat on the menu so had another hamburger with fries, egads, I barely made it home, then hours and hours of cramping. That was before I knew fat was a trigger. Hate eating out. We were with a group so didn't feel comfortable saying to hubby, let's not eat here. I'm also trying to get the right balance between immodium and citrucil so not there yet but no hours of cramping. The real test for me will be trying to add the insoluable stuff back in bits at a time. Also on day 10 of the tapes. Sure relaxing but can't tell if it is doing anything yet.

Good for you Bev! I know of things off the bat that I'm doing wrong! I just need to change a few things and I think I will get better! Its so hard sometimes to remember to take all the supplements...fiber,pep pills, and everything else...I guess its not hard to remember...I just get so distracted by my kids! I just need to take the time!! But there are times I do everything right and still get sick! Thinking what made me sick this time! I'll have to try the food diary. I also need to plan out what to eat every day. Breakfast, snacks lunch and dinner! I know I can do better, I just have to apply my self!!! I can do it!!!!

Just be determined and don't give up and you'll start to feel better before you know it!!
I am still struggling to control my IBS but I know that when I get discouraged and start to feel depressed having to live with this illness it helps to talk to people who understand and this message board is a great place for that!!
Keep it up!!

Organization's the KEY! When do you buy your groceries? Every Saturday morning? Before you go to the store, sit down on the computer and do a food diary and list-for-the-week of what you plan to make. Then make up your grocery list from that. When you come home from the grocery store, spend the rest of your Saturday whipping up your "work meals" (lunches and snacks), wrap them in individual containers and pop 'em in the fridge. Then, on the weekday mornings as you're zooming out the door, grab one of the individual containers, and you're good to go!

I imagine it is difficult with kids. But you know, kids like playing the kitchen -- you could get them to help you make up those "work meals" (and even include some of those yummy Rice Krispy Squares you just posted); kids love that stuff.

Don't they?
