I'm having a difficult time to decide what to do about the bread machine. The catalog certainly has great things to say about the zo. On the other hand, the Breadman has been discussed on the boards and it cheaper. I want something that tastes comparable to handmade yeast bread. We have an Amish community nearby and they make great bread!

Wow -- an Amish community nearby you? Do they have a bakery there? Do they sell to the public? I'd be there every day, buying freshly-baked bread! Oh, YEAH!

Not far from where we used to live in Northern California is Sonoma Bakery that makes freshly-baked SF sourdough bread, and I used to stand in line OUTSIDE and around the corner to buy it -- nothing, but nothing is as fantastic! Too often, by the time the line got to me they were sold out. Story of my life. But I remember once hubby and I got lucky; we took that loaf of bread to the park with a nice bottle of merlot and polished off both!

You can get the bread at the farmer's market during nice weather, or they often set up stands on their farm. There are also some bakeries as well. The stands have cinnamon rolls, breads, pies, and cookies-all hand made of course. You can also get fresh eggs, vegetables, and chickens. I can't wait for farmer's market to start!
