I was wondering what it is that they might be looking for by doing a biopsy. I'm new at all this, and I really don't know. Thanks!

Hi TeeCee, with the biopsy they check for Celiac. Celiac is when you cant have wheat or gluten. So they have to take a small biopsy and run tests on it! Not to sure what they do with it...I just know thats how they test for it!

Thanks for the reply. I've never had any official tests either; just suffering alone with it. I had NO idea that there was even anything I could do to help myself! And I didn't even know that the diagnosis is based on ruling other things out. I feel like I've been in the dark all these years. This board is a miracle for me. And so are the nice people that come here! My dr.(from several years ago), told me I'm classic IBS and to cut out dairy. That was it! I went my own way, and have just been sinking in the mire of it all! Cutting dairy did help some for awhile, but it all came back! Well, thanks StephS and I'll be interested to see how things turn out for you!
