There are quite a few of recipes that are IBS safe that i want to try, but they call for milk. WHat is it that milk has that makes so many recipes call for it all the time? Can i just replace the milk with water? I cant buy soy or rice milk, and i only drink lactaid in cereal.

Angela - just use your Lactaid milk where it calls for regular milk.

You can use water for milk in some recipes - baked goods will usually come out okay. For sweet recipes you can sometimes substitute fruit juice.

Are there any recipes that call for soy, or rice milk? I too can only find recipes that only say milk.

Hi - For just about every "regular" recipe out there that calls for dairy milk, you can simply substitute the same amount of soy or rice milk. Angela doesn't have access to non-dairy milk because her parents won't buy it.
A recipe doesn't have to call for soy or rice milk specifically - most of them won't. Just ignore that and use the soy or rice milk instead. Same thing for cheese in regular recipes - substitute soy or rice or almond cheese as a matter of course.
Best, Heather
