I have just found this site and hopefully it will help me with my battle with IBS. I'm not very good with the computer but I will give this a try. I have purchased the acacia fiber and have added it to my peppermint tea twice a day but as soon as I started taking it, I started to have very loose bowel movements. Is this normal? The amount I have been using is 1/2 level teaspoon twice a day. Should I increase it to 1 teaspoon twice a day. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

That is still a pretty low dose, if your not getting any extra gas with it try to increase you dose a little at a time. Are you following the diet as well?

I was really afraid to start out with the teaspoon dose. I will gradually increase it and yes I am following the diet. Even making my own bread. I am leaving on vacation in 5 days and its so hard when I travel, but I will do anything to feel better and not have any attacks.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. I know what you mean about traveling, I'm leaving for an 11 day cruise on the 16th! Just try (easier said than done!) to relax and not to stress too much about it! I'm prone to C so I will be taking some extra glycerin suppositories, if your prone to D you may way to take some Lomotil, just in case! Good Luck!
