Has anyone tried Prodium? an acquintance told me he uses 1 tsp. at night and 1 tsp. in the am. I do not use any extra fibre supplements but he suggested I try this to bulk up my stool. We are both IBS/D-UC . I bought some but a little nervous to try it. I'm sure it will take my body time to adjust to this and it will give me more D. before it starts to work!! If anyone uses this please help!! Sue

Glad you corrected that. I was just about to reply that Prodium is used for urinary tract irritations, and yes I've taken it often. It works for the pain, but doesn't get rid of the irritation, and if it's an actual bladder infection, you need an antibiotic.

But I don't need to say any of that now.

I just recently started taking a teaspoon or two a day and haven't had any complaints. It's really easy to take. I guess some people get gassy, but I haven't noticed a huge difference, and it does seem to help with bulking. My cousin who Crohn's swear's by the stuff (and she's in Med school).

Hope that helps

If it is, be careful as that's quite likely to cause gas and bloating. Other soluble fiber supplements are likely to be better tolerated.

Check here for info all about those supplements web page

Thanks for answering. I'm just a leary of taking a fiber because of extra gas. I guess it probably won't hurt to try it! Thanks again. Sue

Hi Heather; I have tried Metamucil a few years ago and it did not agree with me. This gentlemen suffers like I do and told me Prodiem helps him alot. Guess I'll just try it and see what happens. Thanks Sue
