I'm not sure about Puffed Rice, but I always get Quaker Sweet Puffs. I always take my fiber before it though. They seem to be ok for me, but could be different for you.

AllieGator (LOVE that name!),

Why is Rice Chex the only cereal you can eat? We did a whole string of posts about cereal last month, so you might do a search for "breakfast" or "cereal suggestions" -- I think that was my question -- and we got a lot of answers.

I like Toasted Oatmeal and Honey Bunches of Oats. But that's just a personal preference. Check out that string -- there were a LOT of personal preferences.

(Actually, to be perfectly honest, I'm not a big fan of cereal. Don't tell anyone. I make Shanna's incredible banana bread, and I do just exactly what she does with it -- slice it, toast it, and put Soy Garden "butter" on it -- every morning for breakfast! YUM.)

Plain puffed rice is fine and NO additives! Great for those on gluten restricted diets since there is no barley in it like Rice Chex.

The only problem with it is you are hungry about 5 minutes afterwards. You have to eat a ton of the stuff to fill you up!!!
Adding sugar is ok too, but most of it sinks to the bottom unless you let the puffed rice soak up the milk first and then add the sugar.

It's great for dieters.............very little calories!!!

Hope this helps.

I'm also fine with Rice Krispies and Cheerios. And when you can add back some insoluble fiber, check out Strawberry Fields by Kashi! It's rice flakes with dried strawberries and raspberries - yummy!

is it just rice flakes, like just made of rice??? i cant tolerate oats too well or high fructose corn syrup AT ALL so that elminates basically all the cereals... i have can wheat but i cant find any cereals that arent whole wheat. Ive tried rice crispies, honeycombs, cheerios, oatmeal, corn flakes, nothing works. i cant have corn either...looks like rice chex is still the only thing

First off, you are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

If in doubt I alway turn to cream of rice, nuked in the microwave. It ALWAYS sets with me, especially when I'm under attack by the IBS.

I'm like you HFCS is almost lethal to me, so I can relate.

Puffed Rice, like I said is fine for cold cereal.

Here's what the package says for Kashi Organic Promise Strawberry Fields cereal, Organic crispy rice and wheat flakes with Organic Strawberries and Raspberries:

Ingredients: Organic long grain rice, Florida Crystals (r) Organic Evaporated Cane juice, Organic Whole Wheat, organic Freeze Dried Strawberries, Sea Salt, Organic Brown Rice Syrup, Organic Freeze Dried Raspberries.

Total Fat 0, Dietary Fiber 1g

So no oats and no HFCS!! And the small amount of insoluble fiber from the whole wheat and the berries only amounts to 1g per serving. It sounds pretty easy on the tummy, and I've never had a problem even the past couple months when I've been so bad.
