I just went through the beano website but I've always been leary of beano for some reason so I wanted to ask my "experts" to tell me all about beano. How much do you use? Can you put it right in the food. If I make Bev's lentel soup can I just put the beano in when I make it. Anything else you can tell me to make me less afraid of taking it would be appreciated. Reading the website makes it sound like a miracle pill and that always makes me leary.
Beano
Thanks in advance!

Hey Val!
Do a search for Beano -- there's a LOT of stuff in here, all of which is more explanation for you than I can offer. However, that soup, although incredible, gives me the WORST gas ever, probably because I don't eat beans on a regular basis. If I take 3 Beanos with the soup, I don't have a problem at all in that area -- I don't use the liquid, though, I use the capsules. I don't know why you couldn't squirt a little Beano on the soup; I just wouldn't know how much. Why are you afraid of taking the Beano? It works for most of us -- but I don't think I'd call it a "miracle pill." Again, do a search, Val, and see what others say.
OH, WAIT! You have GERD. That's why you don't want to take the Beano! Hmmm ... maybe you should pass on that soup, Val; it's damn good soup, but certainly not worth an attack of any kind. I would hate it if you had a problem with it.

Hi Val!
I take 3 tablets, and it really helps for me. You can either swallow the pills whole or chew & swallow them. I've never tried the liquid, but I saw on their website it says to put the drops right in your food.

I don't know about Beano and Gerds, but here are a few other facts that may help, my husband has been using Beano lately. It is just a digestive enzyme, which Heather has explained before. That made it seem less scary to me. Also, we have used both the tablets and the liquid --- the liquid says that it should not be cooked -- so I don't think adding it to soup as it cooks is a good idea. We sometimes put the liquid directly in food, but not when its hot, and definitely not while it's cooking. For hot foods, he uses the tablets. There are directions on the bottles which tell how many drops or tablets to use per serving. Hope that helps a little.

I also chew 3 tablets before eating anything that might produce excess gas and it really does help. I've actually never tried the liquid since the tablets seem to work so well.
