I'm just starting to take probiotics. I'm pretty sure I remember a bunch of you saying you take yours between meals, and I'm just curious, is that when it says to take them on your bottle or is it something you've heard elsewhere? Because my bottle says to take it with a meal, and I just want to make sure they'll be as effective as possible. Thanks a bunch!

Mine also says with a meal. I take it with lunch or dinner!

Kree, I take mine on an empty stomach. I get up all night long, every two hours like clockwork to pee -- so I keep my Jarro by my water bottle and swallow it down at midnight -- my tummy is nice and empty then! The box states, "Take 1-2 capsules per day, preferably on an empty stomach, though it may also be taken with food, or as directed by your qualified health consultant."

I take with a meal...(usually).......some in the AM (bkfst) some in the PM (dinner) but none at lunch. Mine doesn't say on the bottle but that's when my doc told me to take them so I do.

I think it's going to be your own call and I doubt it really matters one way or the other. I've tried them both ways and can't see any difference.

Alrighty, I guess I'll go with what it says on the bottle to start with then. Thanks for the advice, ladies!

I also take it on a empty stomach. I read on the Jarro website that it is perferred. It is the first thing I do when I get out of bed and the last thing before getting back in bed. So far it seems to be helping. Between that and all the other things I take such as acacia and fennel pills etc I need a coverage plan to cover the expense. Still, I am very grateful that something works. Good Luck.

Glad this topic came up again. Got another question for you probiotic users. I want to start one but I'm afraid of DDD.
How did it effect you when you started taking it and I been considering Naturol probiotic. Ever Heard of it? Another is digestzymes, I think I need this as well, sometimes water doen't go down right due to reflux not severe, but I have to stand sometimes to burp. Anyone use this also and what was the initial effects at first?

Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes new

Sherr, I take Jarro, mostly because Shanna recommended it and Mags was going to give it a try as well; I figured a recommendation was the best way to find a good probiotic. I like the Jarrow; I've been taking it for a little over 2 weeks now. I am a D. I did notice a difference in my poops after awhile -- but that's as specific as you want me to be. Suffice it to say, I'm happy.

I also take "Super Digestaway" by Solaray with my meals, although I confess I usually forget to take them, so I'm not taking them on a regular basis. They do seem to help, though -- or maybe it's the Beano that I take with them?

Anyway, hope that helps.

What's DDD?

I think I've tried them all but decided on the best for me, because of the HIGH potency was Ultra Flora Plus DF (dairy free) by Metagenics. 1 cap has 7.5 billion live organisms of Lactobacillus acidophilus (NCFM strain---what ever that means) and 7.5 billion live organisms of Bifidobacterium lactis. I don't know where you'd get them near you but if you want to pay the bucks (they aren't cheap), and make the drive I can tell you where to get them in Palm Springs. They need to stay refrigerated but some can be at room temp. for taking on a trip for up to a week.

As to digestive enzymes. I take one with EVERY meal, plus a Beano tab or 2 or 3 (depending on how much I eat) with every meal as well. No gas problems ever....doing this. Before this routine, OMG.......I couldn't stand myself.
BE CAREFUL with the digestive enzymes and don't get on with HCL if you have reflux. I take either Essential Enzymes by Source Naturals or Gastri-Gest by Priority One.

Hope these suggestions help...........You may talk to your health food store about brands....

I never had a problem when I started them.

Kandee
