But mom, if you have it after a "modest, safe meal" -- even having just a "modest amount" of the frozen dessert on top of the meal is simply too much food. I wish I could eat that size meal in one sitting, but I can't. It's either or -- either the meal or the frozen dessert. When I had my attack, I had just finished the acacia with my fennel tea, then my fave frozen dessert. A few hours later, BAM!
Does that make sense? I guess it does if the percentage of fat is too high.

I'm afraid sorbet doesn't do it for me either. I do however love the baskin robbins daquiri ice.

Did you always have attacks like this though? I mean you were the one who told me about these products -- and said how much you liked them. It was only recently that they bothered you. So I wonder if it's that you ate too much -- or stress -- or something like that causing it. Just an idea -- I could be just rambling nonsense if it did bother you all along.

Wow! I'm IMPRESSED! How did you remember? Gosh, I'm even flattered.
You know, I thought about that last night too -- I've been eating this stuff for well over a year now, and I've even had more in one sitting than I had the other night, and it never bothered me.
I'm beginning to wonder if I have the flu. I'm still nauseated (not a normal symptom for my IBS-D) after THREE days.
Still, I think it's important to be aware of the amount of fat in this stuff and to keep our portions VERRRRY small.
Thanks again! You're a cool mom!

You're welcome! You're right -- we do need to keep the amounts modest -- and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Guar gum is a big no-no for me too. All the vegetable gums, carrageenan, xantham gum, etc.

Bev, I'd betcha a dollar you had/have a stomach flu bug. I was nauseous for 5 or 6 days after the one I had and it's also not a normal symptom for me of IBS-D.

Heather, using the formula you gave us for finding fat content via fat calories and total calories, this calculation comes out at 30%. But when you do the multiplying x 9, the figure comes out at 36%? I would venture to eat the 30% safely, but probably would balk at the 36%. Why are the figures so different and which one should we go by when reading labels?
