My Gastro wants me to go back to my anxiety dr and ask for medication that will not only help my anxiety/panic attacks but also help the gut. I guess the gut has its own brain so the gut n brain act alike? Am I understanding that right? I do take kolonopin as needed now for anxiety but he wants me to take something to prevent them from happening and he said there are medicine that will help that along with my ibs-d. Anyone happen to know what some of those medicines might be he didn't give me any idea and just said she should know what he's talking about. I will be seeing her next month and I'm not sure what to ask her for. I have tried Effexor and one other kind and it literally knocked me on my butt. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi
I've been on many of those types of meds, and in my experience they would only work in the short term, but perhaps you will do better. You may want to consider the IBS Audio Program which you can use alongside any meds if needed. The program contains audio sessions you listen to on a CD and has helped many folks with the brain gut connection and anxiety aspects of IBS. Read the Hypno forum for success stories, might be worth a try and cheaper than lifelong pills.
Hope that helps, all the best to you...

GREAT suggestion Marilyn! Thanks!
-------------------- Originally diagnosed with IBS-C in Spring, 2008. During spring to fall of 2008, had at least 10 acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs. IBS went into remission. IBS returned in late July 2013 after taking 2 oral contrasts for a CT scan for cancer follow up. Had more acupuncture with different practitioner in summer 2014, but received little benefit.
