Hello-
This is my second go round with the EFI diet. I follow the diet religiously, eliminating all triggers, take 27 grams of SFS, follow all of the guidelines for people with IBS-C. I have only been on the diet for 2.5 weeks this go round and am finding that my good days are a bit better than when I was not on the diet but my bad days are much worse. Is this typical of starting the diet. I know it took me close to a year to stabilize last time but I don't remember struggling this much.

Hi - did you work up to that dose (which is at the high end) gradually?
What symptoms are you having?
Best, H

Hi Heather:
Yes I take 27 grams and have been for the past 8 years. When I first discovered your diet, nine years ago, I did not work up my fiber gradually and learned the hard way that I had to take it I slow. I ventured off the diet but kept using the SFS. Because my symptoms have gradually taken over my life again I am back on the diet and plan to stay. So far I have had some trouble restabilizing. I did the break the cycle and then started incorporating IF back into my diet. The last 3 days I have had a lot of trouble with constipation and gas. Could it be that my body is adjusting to the increase in SF items that I eat with my meal? My other question is when I am constipated do I adjust by increasing the soluble fiber or insoluble fiber (according to your guidelines of course!). Thank you so much for your reply.
One more thing...last time I think it took about a year for me to stabilize. Do you think that I may be a little faster because I have stayed on the SFS?
