Hi there, I am wundering if people doing the lowfodmap diet can use a lot out of the EFI book?
It looks to me that the romescosauce will be lowfodmap? All the pasta's has to be glutenfree then. I'll look into this coming next weeks and tell how I adjusted the receipes if needed. Maybe some person allready did that and can tell how they adjust the receipes to be low fodmap?
Thanks in advance. I'll start next saturday, the 6th wit the lowfodmap diet and will see a dietitian wednesday. I'll keep you posted on the diet!
PS Heather, can you make a seperate forum for it? Perhaps it is easier for people to find the low fodmap diet part and perhaps it should be nice posting some articles about it? I understand it helps a lot of IBS-people to have less complaints. I'll take your EFI book with me to the dietitian to show her to perhaps help other people with ibs. It helps me a lot. Thank you for that. It makes it easier for me to start finally with low fodmap because I am used to change things in receipes and replace them allready.

I think that the one thing we need to adjust in the romescosauce is using garlic infused oliveoil instead of the garlic.

I will do the same Syl. I like the receipes of the EFI book. Only garlic or union for example are not allowed during the low fodmap, so you might need to adjust some receipes, or not? The first couple of weeks it also has to be gluten free. Most things are easy to adjust I suppose?

Actually the FODMAP diet isn't gluten free - it is wheat, rye and barley free. Gluten free products are only recommended because 'usually' but not always they are low FODMAP. The elimination phase usually last 6-8 weeks before starting the re-introduction phase. I have been using the low FODMAP diet along with EFI for about 6 years now. I didn't find it was much of a problem. Good luck

Today I started the diet. Walking through the supermarket was fun.. checking all the ingredients.. It took us longer than normal .
We noticed there are almost no fodmapfriendly salads you can buy so we have to make them ourselves. Sometimes it looked like we did find one.. tuna salad for example but then we noticed one of the ingredients: onionpowder.
So I will be making more salads myself. It will be a challenge, but a nice one.

I haven't had onion for at least 1/2 year. Onion makes the world go round darn it all;BUT their are these freeze dried chives I use that are mighty fine by me! Have used enzymes AND simethicone before with onions.

Thank you for the info. I use now the green of springonion as allowed in the fodmap. Let's see how that goes.

It's my 4th day at low fodmap. I am very strickt about it and it is going better.
I've still have some gass now and then but the bloating seems so much better at the moment. I am happy with this.
