I just had a silent diarrhea event. That's when all of a sudden I feel wet and in checking it out I have some stool in my pants. I have had this reaction a long time ago when I ate a food with olestra in it.This time soybean oil was listed. Is that a trigger food?
According to the clinically proven FODMAP dietary approach for managing IBS symptoms soy is a trigger food. You can read about it in the first two links in my signature. However, tofu and soy sauce because of the way they are prepared are not.

Thank you very much,Syl .I just read the FODS info. And the lists of safe foods and foods to avoid. I made several copies to read and reread. Do you know if probiotics are helpful?
Was soybean oil the first ingredient? All fats are GI stimulants and likely IBS trigger foods, but quantity plays a large role. It's very helpful to eat low fat, but not fat free.

Few probiotics have been clinically tested for efficacy on IBS. Three that have are VSL#3, Align and Digestive Advantage. Some people get moderate results while others experience little or no change. It is something you will have to try. However, standard probiotics like lactobascillus will likely be of little help
