Soluble fiber from food or use the Acacia supplement?

Hi All -
I'm new to the group. Just got my order of Acacia Tummy Fiber, Peppermint Capsules, and Fennel Tea. I've read quite a bit of the content on this site and the Eating for IBS book.
My question is - do I need to get my dose(s) of soluble fiber from food or can I just use the Acacia fiber supplement before meals?
I would love to just take my peppermint cap, wait an hour, take the Acacia powder, then eat a salad. Will that give me the soluble fiber I need to offset the salad?
Thanks everyone!

Hi - ideally, you are getting soluble fiber foods as the foundation to meals and snacks, and adding the Tummy Fiber on top of that.
I can't say that just taking the acacia before something as high in insoluble fiber as a raw green salad will give you the margin of safety you need. It will certainly help, but it would be best if you also had soluble fiber foods as a part of that meal.
Can you add some cooked potatoes or other root veggies to the salad, or add some rice or pasta, or even serve the salad over some fresh white bread like a bruschetta?
Best, H

Thank you for the fast response!
Yes, I can eat the soluble fiber foods beforehand, no problem. I think what I have to give up right now is the salad.
Thanks for the help!

You're welcome!
Raw green salads on an empty stomach are a tough one. If you can cook those veggies, chop them up, add them to soluble fiber, they'll be a lot easier on your gut.
Same thing with fruits - instead of a raw fruit salad, throw the fruit in a blender to make a smoothie, or cook fruit into a soluble fiber basis like rice cereal.
