Well, similarly to what someone else reported a couple of weeks ago, VSL#3 has been doing me wonders. Whereas my IBS is not gone, it's been helped tremendously. I've been on it for around 5 weeks (1 sachet per day after breakfast.)

So is this something that will keep getting better or plateau after a while? Can my IBS get worse again, if I say stopped? Or should I continue indefinitely (at least for now?)

Also, I am guessing that different kind of intestinal flora is responsible for us not tolerating fats as opposed to IF? (ie one may be helped by this particular probiotic whereas the other may not be?)

Anyone with experience and esp Syl if you know, what do scientific trials say?

thanks!!

now: stable through EFI+FODMAP dieting (no lactose/no fructose/some fructans and some polyols)

[I've tried VSL#3 -> I could tolerate v good amounts of IF (even with less SF), it worked great (but overall I find it too expensive)]

Your IBS can get worse if you quit taking a probiotic that is working for you.

Probiotics are not clinically tested for the type of food that they can handle. They are only tested to see if IBS symptoms and pain are reduced.
