Rolled oats that has had the bran husk removed is called whole grain unlike wholegrain wheat bread where the wheat bran is included . However, you have to be careful because some rolled oats leave the all or some of the husk in the cereal. I ran into this problem with some of the rolled oats in the UK. You can usually tell from the ratio of soluble to insoluble fiber if it is given on the label. If they are roughly equal then usually the husk has been removed.

If you are eating the Traditional Quaker Oats available in the UK then nutritional information says a 45 gram serving contains about 9 grams of fiber of which 4 grams is soluble fiber and 5 grams insoluble fiber. Beta glucan is a type of soluble fiber. It has nearly equal amounts of soluble and insoluble fiber and it safe for many people.
