Guys, does any of you take a L-Lysine supplement?
I am looking at the list of the sources of it and here it is:
Buffalo Gourd (10,130–33,000 ppm) in seed Berro, Watercress (1,340–26,800 ppm) in herb. Soybean (24,290–26,560 ppm) in seed. Carob, Locust Bean, St.John's-Bread (26,320 ppm) in seed; Common Bean (Black Bean, Dwarf Bean, Field Bean, Flageolet Bean, French Bean, Garden Bean, Green Bean, Haricot, Haricot Bean, Haricot Vert, Kidney Bean, Navy Bean, Pop Bean, Popping Bean, Snap Bean, String Bean, Wax Bean) (2,390–25,700 ppm) in sprout seedling; Ben Nut, Benzolive Tree, Jacinto (Sp.), Moringa (aka Drumstick Tree, Horseradish Tree, Ben Oil Tree), West Indian Ben (5,370–25,165 ppm) in shoot. Lentil (7,120–23,735 ppm) in sprout seedling. Asparagus Pea, Winged Bean (aka Goa Bean) (21,360–23,304 ppm) in seed. Fat Hen (3,540–22,550 ppm) in seed. Lentil (19,570–22,035 ppm) in seed. White Lupin (19,330–21,585 ppm) in seed. Black Caraway, Black Cumin, Fennel-Flower, Nutmeg-Flower, Roman Coriander (16,200–20,700 ppm) in seed. Spinach (1,740–20,664 ppm). Amaranth, Quinoa
I don't eat ANY of there things too often (meaning I hardly eat any of these, I don't even know what half of there are...) and L-Lysine supposedly helps for cold sores (herpes).
And here I am, I have a whole ton of tiny little cold sores all over my upper lip... I am taking a L-Lysine supplement now (praying it won't make me sick ) , but I wish I could get it through food for after the herpes goes away. Does anyone know any other sources for L-Lysine in the food, that are IBS safe, or any other cure for herpes?
Thanks Jerry, IBS-C

you won't be able to get enough through food to keep herpes at bay most likely, lysine is a good way too go as well as elderberry. good luck, i have seen it work for lots of people hopefully it will work for you too. if it doesn't try bell hepes relief system it is a homeopathic product that is well backed up by customers i have met.

Health food stores usually have a Lysine chap stick kind of thing that you apply topically. It contains tea tree oil, and it is very good for cold sores.

Thanks, Miso Do you think I should take it all the time, even when I don't have a herpes outbreak?
That's very helpful of you, thanks!

Thank you, Gracie, yes, I have a chapstick and I do apply it topically I didn't know they sold it in HFS's thouhgh, I got mine from the local pharmacy. Back in Boston, there was this magical chapstick with Lysine, that hepled a lot, it was called "L-Lysine" but I can't find it anywhere here (New York City) so I am using something else...

Valtrex at the first tingling of a cold sore. It works for me. If it does appear, over the counter Abreva shortens the span of it.

Would I have to have it prescribed, that antibiotic (Valtrex)? What doctor should I go to to have that prescribed?
Thanks a lot!

i think you take it all the time to ward it off, but do some research online to find out more.

Gracie, thanks a lot!!!
It had never occured to me to look for it in Whole Foods (the HFS) but I did yesterday and I found the magic stick!!! It is Super lysine +, and it looks suspiciously similar to the one I was using in Boston (I think they just changed the look and name of it, otherwise the company that makes it, and the wording and the ingredients, even the font the ingredients are written in, is the same). And it is as magic as the one before so, thank you SO much for suggesting the HFS. I know it seems like a normal thing, but I usually look for drugs in the pharmacy (and I originally bought this from a CVS pharmacy in Boston)...
Well... thanks again! I can smile again, finally, because the armour of cold sores on mu lip feels much softer now, with the Lysine cream.

Are elderberries fructose safe? I tried and like Mrs. Miller's (Amish) elderberry jelly. I can't find any fructose information on the internet about fructose content.
Cheers

Most berries have less fructose than glucose and are safe. Elderberries are a sour berry which is a good sign that they have less fructose than glucose.
