I know there has been discussion in the past on which antidepressents are best for people with IBS and I am not sure which one it is. Can't find a thead either. Any help would be appreciated and if anyone is taking any antidepressents that have helped with their IBS-D, cramping symptoms, I'd love to hear a success story. Thanks

Long ago, I took Elavil (amitriptyline) and it did help for about two months or so, then it stopped helping. Some folks do find it helpful. I also took quite a few other meds, SSRIs, etc and none of them helped - most had horrific side effects for me. If you want to wade thru it, you can read my journey link below if you want a list of all the meds I took - but many folks do find them helpful. Sadly, if they were the total answer, then there would be no need to search further meds... they are also doing research on IBS specific meds all the time. Frustrating to find the one thing that helps...
