My wife was diagnosed with ibs about six months ago. She always had loose stools and recently had surgery on a fistula and hemorroids. The first doctor told her to drink milk and yogurt which made her feel worse. The last doctor told her she probably had ibs. He reccomended imodium. Doctors don't really have a clue on nutrition. My wife was a veg already so making the move to vegan was easy. She uses the acacia every day in her peppermint tea. Three tablespoons a day. She is feeling alot better and we follow your diet. She does have upper gi pain sometimes and has heartburn were she needs to sit up in bed. She drinks the tea before bed. Any ideas? And is upper pain common? And heartburn. We were out two nights ago and she did have a sparkling ginger drink and for dinner had brown rice and veggies, the veggies were close to raw. She felt horrible and had severe stomach pain and went to bed .Is that common? Could something have triggered that? Thanks

Welcome to the board,
Brown rice is a cereal grain that contains the bran. Cereal bran and raw veggies are high in insoluble fiber which is a known powerful GI stimulant that can exacerbate IBS symptoms. You can read more about it here.

Not sure If she has it. From what I'm reading peppermint would make it worse.
