I can handle the running to the bathroom, loading up with Imodium, eating all the safe foods but what I am having trouble with is the pain from trapped gas.
It comes on fast and strong, much like labor pains and goes away once I've gone to the bathroom.
The pain is so intense it almost knocks me to my knees.I feel like crying and almost as soon as it comes ..it goes. Why is gas, which is air right...so painful?
Does anyone have any solutions to help?

It would be helpful if you could post the meals and snacks you have eaten in the past 2-3 days.

Sure, I get that too; usually in the afternoon at work where I can't pass gas. It is spasms that create gas pockets and I like to think of them as expanding the stretch of your intestines to far and that is where the pain comes from- but it is all spasms. Pep caps and tea will help. Passing gas and moving around after eating works well too. Something like Bentyl relieves the spasms.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
