Any chance fennel tea is bothering me?

Hi all, I'm just wondering if there is *any* chance that the fennel tea might have a laxative effect. It says it aids in gas expulsion, so I'm just wondering if it sort of makes things "move". Sometimes when I drink it I feel worse instead of better, but I also realize it could be because I'm already bloated and I'm adding more liquid or something. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem.

Fennel tea does not help everyone. I have had very limited success with it.

Fennel helps reduce gas in the bowel and also helps with expulsion. Some of the volatile oils in it are anti-spasmodics, so it can help with cramping and spasms.
It shouldn't have any affect on diarrhea or constipation, and it shouldn't be a laxative at all.
If you're drinking it as a very hot cup of tea, it may be the heat that is getting things moving. Some people have trouble with very hot liquids. Try brewing the tea as usual, but letting it cool to room temp before you drink it.
Best, Heather
