Just wanted to start by thanking all of you who are out there sharing recipes and advice and support - I have been reading a lot of posts since my troubles began and I so appreciate this forum. After a colonoscopy three years ago stemming from complaints of major distension of the abdomen (5mos pregger looking) horrible stabbing (gas ?) pain, trapped gas episodes that lasted around 8 hours - I was told I had a "touch of IBS" (exact quote!), given a script for levsin and told "see you in five years for another colonoscopy". This was actually okay with me b/c despite persistent minor problems with gas and bloating, the major episodes were limited to one or two/year. So, fast forward to this Jan. when me and the fam suffered through a nasty bout of stomach flu which severely aggravated an inguinal hernia which resulted in emergency hernia surgery. Whew ! Six weeks post-surgery, just as I was starting to exercise and feel good again, the bouts of intense gas pain and bloating began... everyday lasting at least 3 hours at a time, getting worse each day. I could not get into to see anyone quickly so, remembering the "touch of IBS" comment, I found this site, and tried to break my cycle. The diet has helped me while I have been seeking testing - negative to a intestinal blockage and CA125 test and transvag ultrasound, but as of yesterday, POSITIVE to the SIBO breath test. I am so darn wary of traditional medicine and I hate using antibiotics, so I am not really believing the results of the test. The secretary said my results were "more positive than many others she has seen", so I think I will try and trust this, except I have to go on Cipro for 2 weeks and I am so afraid of getting into major intestinal trouble after I have worked so hard to feel better. I am sure many of you have been through all of this, so I just wanted to put my situation out there to see if anyone had any advice. Thanks so much for listening!!!!!

I don't have SIBO but you can try a Search on the Boards. I know other people have posted about it in the past.

Good luck with this.

Do you know if you were given lactulose or glucose to drink for your SIBO test?
