LM...here is my question. To grow muscle you need to have at least 1 gram of protein per day. So I need at least 175 grams a day.

I can get 50 at lunch and dinner. However, how I am supposed to get the rest if I CAN NOT have protein shakes like you suggested?
I don't want to have canned tuna more than 1X per day (due to mercury and taste).

So again, how can I get my protein in?
I have no doubt the egg protein powder is exacebberating my symptoms as I have been much more C and B lately.

I ordered Pea Protein...now 2 drinks of those a day...is that really not recommended? You keep telling me that protein drinks exabberate IBS since they are dense.
So would switching to Pea Protein really make it easier and if not...what do I do to get my protein?

Well I guess you have to pick the lesser of two evils don't you? Yes protein powders may not be super IBS safe, can you still drink them? sure, but be prepared for yuckiness.
I am soon starting up on them again. 1 per day. Unfortunately the store where I bought soy yogurt no longer carries it. I should be able to get a case at the store where I work and freeze it. I think the soy yogurt makes them creamier and I like the cultures.
If the shakes bother you maybe you could try 1 eating egg whites or 2 blending nuts into the shake instead of powder.

So what you're saying is this really stinks.
Either I don't have the shakes and thus the IBS is better (but not gone) but I am protein deficent and pretty much wasting time in the gym (if you don't eat enough protein...it actually is HARMFUL to your muscles if you lift).

Or...I can get my protein but the IBS will be aggrevated.
Is this what your are saying?

You do not think even switching to a different powder, Pea, is going to make a difference?

IBS isn't fun.
I have no idea what pea protein even is. But I still think you can get enough protein from a good diet; protein in general is not a trigger food. And you may handle one dose of powder per day. Plus I have said it many time, start slow and increase. You can try to be more patient about it.

You really would not think protein powder would be a trigger.
I don't get why Egg Protein Powder 2-4 times a day would be.
I also don't get why you need to increase it slowly...since it is not like increasing Benefiber/Acadia.

Were do I get 25+ at breakfast if no shake or egg beaters?

I'll answer both posts here.
There is just something about the powder that is so filling it leads to discomfort. This doesn't mean it is unsafe any more than a big glass of soy milk is. Definitely don't take more than one serving to start. But you were the one that was saying they were bothering you, not me. I don't care if you use it. I take one serving in the morning, half the year. But if I feel it isn't settling well, I'll stop it for a while. It is at your discretion. But it is never good to start eating a lot of something without ever having it before. So if your body can handle one serving, try that. Maybe later you could try two. But if you can't handle one, don't take any.

Now why can't you eat egg whites or egg beaters? That is the best idea because it is a lot of protein and more filling than a shake (I had one yesterday and unfortunately was hungry soon after). If the protein shake bothers you try an almond milk based smoothie with nuts, fruit and silken tofu in it instead of powder, same amount of protein, cheaper and better for you. Then have one for dessert. I like to make a smoothie or ice cream like this: a frozen ripe banana, a big glob of PB, silken tofu (1/2 pack), soy/almond milk and agave syrup or maple syrup. It is dessert but nutritious enough for breakfast. It would have about 25g of protein.
You can find safe turkey jerky, nuts and seeds like pepitas, soy cheese, granola bars, etc as long as they are eaten with SF. I don't know what protein amount you are at now but if you can get 50 at lunch and dinner, 25 at breakfast and easily get 25 more in snacks that is pretty good.
Remember in all this that protein itself naturally takes more work to digest. That doesn't mean it is unsafe but could tax your system and make it lash out at some point, so to speak. there are people that eat so much protein their bodies work so hard to digest it they end up breaking down. It can happen to people on Atkins diet. But you aren't avoiding carbs like them so hopefully your body will have the fuel to digest all the protein. I still recommend increasing gradually to 175. Try setting a timeline of like 2 months to get there so your body gets used to it. How about that?
I hope this answers things.
