I have both books, Eating for IBS and IBS The First Year. I am confused on where to start. I don't eat right, I know and I hate to cook. Does anyone have a sample diet that I can follow, just to get me started? I am IBS-C with constant gas... ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif)

I personally would suggest that you start with Heather's Tummy Tamer (fiber), and her peppermint tea. Take these things daily.
Beyond that you can cook up a pot of rice and keep that in the frig to be warmed and eaten when hungry. Baked potatoes also work, though don't doctor them with dairy butter and sour cream. Try soy butter instead. You can garnish a baked potato with chopped green onion and/or fresh chopped parsley.
Also, take Heather's advice about eating pieces of French or sourdough bread throughout the day. You can make some seasoned croutons out of these to nibble on, though do make sure that you don't add much (if any) oils or butter when toasting them. Simply toss the pieces of bread in seasonings and bake them in your oven or toaster oven. Not a bad snack at all.

and you can use that for everything from breakfast to dinner. Plus it will stay fresh for days.
Best, Heather
