There's a good ibs safe digestive enzyme I want to start. I have ibs D but not diarreah..Do you think digestive enzymes will help or speed up things and make them worse??
Also does a calcium supplement help D? I also hear you need vitamin D to absorb calcium??
Generally speaking your body produces all of the digestive enzymes it needs except for the digestive enzyme found in Beano and lactase if you are lactose intolerant. Since you don't drink milk or eat dairy on Heather's diet you don't need lactase. Beano will help with gas when you eat beans and some types of veggies. Most digestive enzyme supplements contain digestive enzymes the body doesn't need or digestive enzymes that break down in the strong acids in the stomach. Also, some digestive enzymes contain ingredients that might make IBS worse.

yes, very informative..I didn't see acid reflux mentioned,though..so It a doctor says the digestive enzyme I want to purchase is good...would it be a good idea?
Digestive enzymes are made of proteins and they are considered to be a food supplement. Probably the worse thing that can happen is you will be paying a lot of money for a little bit of protein which may not help much.

I use caltrate for my D. They have a tool on their website to let yo calculate how mch calcium you need - I really wouldn't advise going over the RDA. You can get a version with vitamin D already in it - advisable as most people are sort of vit D according to all the med types I know. The toxic dose for D is also really high.
