I keep a tin in my purse. They calm the tum when you're on the run and can't get a cup of tea.

and just for a laugh: I'm the altoids queen! I have 3 tins at all times! Peppermint for the belly, ginger for the nausea, and cinnamon for when I'm feeling great (I just like it!) I will always need a rather large purse...

Are you kidding! I consider myself The Altoid Queen also! I am never with out! The best thing I have noticed is if I get that sudden hunger feeling and can not eat just yet, a few Altiods and I am good! Karin

Yeah. Ginger ones are hard to find, but they are safe. Definetely NO caffeine in them. Don't know why you thought that. I love my altoids!

just so you know, artificial flavors are not neccesarily a no-no. They are just fine--especially in altoids. Heather even mentions taking altoids as pills before a dinner in her book! So, they most def. are safe. The ginger ones are hard to find, but I try to always keep my eyes open. Once I found them at a Walgreens. Hopefully walmart has them for you. If not, you can order them online at a place like amazon probably! Have fun altoid shopping!

It took a considerable amount of experimenting but I eventually figured out that many artificial flavors are triggers for me.

"Unfortunately, most meal replacement or supplemental nutrition shakes have ingredients that can seriously worsen IBS. Among the most common brands, virtually all Boost drinks contain dairy, and most varieties have high in fat, and some varieties have caffeine and artificial flavors. Both Boost and Ensure also typically use corn syrup as a sweetener, which can cause problems for IBS folks who are sensitive to fructose."
check out the Splenda article, also talks about other artificial stuff.

There is a mistake in the comments. Corn syrup should not be a problem because pure corn syrup contains only glucose and no fructose. Non-peppermint Altoids contain corn syrup. It is HFCS syrup that is a problem and HFCS must be listed seperately from corn syrup.

Please folks, read the ingredients before posting something about ingredients.
Peppermint Altoids contain:
sugar, gum arabic (acacia), natural flavor (oil of peppermint), gelatin.
They're terrific for IBS pain and spasms.

I bought cinamon that aren't sugar free and it says artificially flavored right on the box. After I ate a couple I noticed not feeling good right away. crazy noises and bloating all over.

Anything that's artificially sweetened is going to be problematic on its own.
