Welcome to the board

You must be IBS-C. Movicol is an osmotic laxative containing polyethlene glycol and Duspatal commonly known as mebeverine is a antispasmodic sometimes prescribed for IBS. I am IBS-D have no need for a laxative. I have tried a number of antispasmodics including mebeverine. They have never worked for me.

Good luck

its so good to know im not alone my doctor prescribed dustapal for 1 month and it worked a bit, bloating was minimised and the sounds were not so loud. as i am a C, after a month he prescribed again dustapal retard for 2 months and movicol for 2 months, i take one movicol a day, that way my condition doesnt shift to a D. not so good on diet either, but iv discovered activia, ginger with warm water, and pepperment tea make the pain and the noise less. exercise helps with feeling less bloated. been with ibs for over a year now, its bad and affecting my work but i have hope, healing is on its way!! im hopeful! God bless u, i know the feeling, not a good 1 at all.
