YES!!!!!! Most definitely. Little Minnie and I were talking about this in another discussion! It is very painful to sit all day. Work, riding in a car, etc. it is all painful.

Try to stand and walk around as much as possible. If you can, stand to eat lunch, and then walk around after you are done eating. It usually helps me alot to walk around for at least 10 minutes after eating. This helps with gas, pain, and spasms. Wal-Mart is usually where I go since I do my shopping on lunch. I usually have an urge for a BM by the time I get out of wally world. If you are on the phone with someone, standup and talk to them. Any kind of movement will help you to keep your gut moving.

HTH!

Not too badly. Every once in a while he will "hit a nerve" so to speak and I can feel it in my abdomen. But, that's only once-in-a-while. The pain is not bad enought to stop me from having sex! Everyone is different though. And when I am having a "flare-up" it is not comfortable to have sex, but who wants to have sex when they are hurting anyway?

I am beginning to feel more and more like a normal person, thanks. And so true, when I have a flare-up all I want to do is lay very still, that is the only thing that really relieves the pain.

Yes, lying on my back or tummy helps, but I can't lay on my side??? that's so weird. I guess because gravity is pulling it in an abnormal way or something.

I'm glad your starting to feel better. It takes a while for most, but you seem to be catching on well! I'm still having troubles catching on or at least not taking my own advice.

Never too many questions! I'm enjoying chatting as well, I get bored at work .

I do get tired when I have a flare-up. I guess the pain wears me out. IBS is so strange and affects people in so many different ways.

Don't worry, you are not alone!!!!! I PROMISE!!!!

wear loose clothing
drink fennel tea
eat lightly but often and really slowly
get up to use the restroom as often as you can
take pep caps before eating
heating pads help pain, also thermacare period wraps work well
save walking around, if limited, to after lunch

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
