Well, I haven't been around here much since my symptoms had pretty much gone away. Until now. Here I am 3 days in bed... On Sunday I felt sick to my stomach a bit, but drank some tea and was even able to go to my harp gig and play at a nursing home for a Mother's Day tea. You see, since it's been a long time since I'd had a bad attack, I had finally gotten to the point where I could say "this won't get bad, don't worry about it." Well, my parents came down Sun for dinner. (healthy, no real triggers for me there) I woke up Monday with terrible cramps. Had some D and then started throwing up bile since there was nothing in my belly. Figured it was a bug and slept the rest of the day. Tuesday morning was a bit better, so I got dressed and went to work. BIG mistake. I'm a teacher, but thank goodness I co-teach. I was in the bathroom for 40 min with cramps, D and vomiting. I SOMEHOW drove myself home (still cannot believe I made it. It showed me how far I have come, being able to drive. Even though my husband had to talk to me the whole way so I wouldn't cry) Got home and all day yesterday was vomiting but not able to go to the bathroom. I was in constant pain, not like what I'm used to.I usually get a break between the horrible cramps. Not this time. After 8 hours of continuous pain, I almost went to the hospital. I didn't want to sound like a drug addict, b/c I knew they couldn't do anything for me, but I couldn't keep pain pills down... I spoke with my Mom and she reminded me this is what I would get as an 'IBS' attack about 5 years ago. That's when I figured out I probably had an impaction. I did some research online (I don't recommend not going to the doc for this, but I've had impactions before) and took some colace. By the evening I was getting some relief and this morning was able to have a BM. Still, 3 days off work, worst pain in 5 years. (And the vomiting is from the pain--I used to always get that) So, not to be a downer, but it can come from things other than food. I had been (until Monday) very stable. I know it wasn't food that caused it, it could be stress, but sometimes my belly just does this. I'm praying for it not to happy in the next 5 years. So back to bed to rest and drink my fluids since I didn't eat or drink for 2 days. Blech! Hope everyone out there is having a better belly day than me!
