I don't like eating snacky-type things like pretzals, they don't make me feel good. Maybe because if i have a bag i would tend to eat too many of them!

Hey there! I do not have Myspace, I can't get on the internet at work (we have dialup at home and it's slow as Christmas!), so I just deleted my profile. I only have time to get on at work. Isn't that Ironic? Don't you think?

Now, on to the pretzel question:
Too much of anything is not a good thing!!!! I can eat pretzels fine, as well, but if I sit down with a bag and don't stop until I'm through, I would be in so much pain!!!! Heather has a post on Exuberant eating at the beginning of this board. Check it out. It's not always what you eat, but how much you eat at one time!!!

Hope that helps!

I wish I did still have Myspace, but in a way, I'm kinda glad!

Hi everyone,

Here's a link to a newsletter Heather wrote on gas and bloating. http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/08/061008.html#newsresearch. We have found that fennel tends to be the most effective treatment for gas and bloating. It's excellent at gas expulsion. You have to steep the tea for at least 5-10 minutes to allow the volatile oils (the medicinal component of the seed) to release into the water. The teabags have more fennel than other fennel tea brands.

Ginger also helps to soothe and relax the gut and mainly helps with digesting those foods that cause the gas and bloating. It's a good idea to follow the guidelines on how to eat for IBS, as this will be the most effective way to stabalize. Heather has posted all of the diet cheat sheets on the Eating for IBS Board.

There are also foods that have the potential of causing gas. Sulfur containing foods often promote increased gas and include onions, garlic, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Cooking these foods tends to lessen the severity of gas formed in the colon from these foods.

Also, remember to eat slowly and do not overeat. Hatha yoga and deep breathing exercises also help.

Here's another link on gas and bloating.

I hope this helps!
Erin
