Is it ok to eat Häagen-Dazs fat free Sorbet? I tried a little and loved the taste. I didn't eat enough to bother me, so wanted to ask if anyone has tried it. They also have Mango flavor which is wonderful too.

It definitely sounds good! I can eat the TCBY sorbet just fine. Check the ingredients, if there are any artificial anythings in there, I wouldn't eat it. Look for HFCs and anything ending in -ose, -ase, -ate. Those are usually words for artificial sugar or a lot of unwanted sugar. But it does sound good!

I'm married and it's so wonderful!

-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Pectin is a soluble fiber. It can be considered to be safe.

I don't believe banana is a trigger unless perhaps they are over ripe. I eat one every day. Pectin is found in many fruits and vegetables including carrots, potatoes, strawberries, apples and banana. About 60-70% of the fiber in citrus fruits is pectin. I don't believe it is a trigger. In fact, a couple of studies suggest pectin is a good source of soluble fiber for IBSers.

Thats intersting casue I eat strawberrys and carrots like every day or everyother. I don't do well with bananas they last attack I had I think it was from a banana. My huband always thought he was allgeric to them so I had gotten some a few weeks ago and they were yellow not really ripe and he ate on them for a few days no prolbem as they got riper hes said thay upset his stomach again. If I bake bread for him or my daughter hes fine. DO you think that makes a differance and if its worth a try? ( to bake them) Thank you very much for the info I have ben wanting jelly or jam and just to afraid to buy it cause of the pectin. Thanks again.. emmasmom ibs-c gas
