Hi
I know having 1500mg of calcium can help IBS but I was wondering how much is 1500mg percentage wise? I get most of my calcium from soy beverage and on the carton it says percentage not mg. Thanks.

Hi - Check the label on your soy milk for what it's giving as the daily recommended allowance for calcium (it should say on the bottom of the little chart). The US RDA for women for calcium is 1200 mg a day. I wouldn't take more than 1500 mg.

Angel - the calcium supplement helps with IBS-D, because it has a constipating effect. You're IBS-C, right? Just didn't want you to make it worse!

Yes I'm IBS-c. I don't take calcium pills though. I used too before I knew I could have soy beverage. I get calcium from lemons and soy beverage and so I wanted to know how much I should get so I don't get too much .

Actually it doesn't say. I guess I'll just have to guess how much I can have.

Sorry I forgot to say that I know calcium helps IBS-D but I thought it also helps cramping for people with IBS-c and d.
