I'm aware that Heather recommends peppermint/chamomile/fennel tea. I've noticed that tea causes bloating, at least for me. I have not noticed this in any specific type of tea. I'm not sure if its the hot water or the actual tea. So, do any of you also experience this?

I'm not an expert on fennel/peppermint tea, but I interestingly, I read an article today that stated the tannin in tea (I don't know if this is all teas) can actually cause constipation. This was a surprise to me!

Have you tried sipping the tea more slowly over a longer period of time? I wonder if a large amount of water at once could cause a problem for you, as I think Heather does say somewhere that this isn't helpful for the digestive system - better to sip liquids throughout the day.

Is black tea not IBS friendly like herbal tea? And thanks for the tip, to sip tea slowly, by the way. I'm very much a chugger/quick eater, and I need to learn to slow down.

Black tea contains caffeine which is an IBS stimulant and not IBS friendly .

Peppermint tea makes me gassy. The only tea that I can drink is decaffinated herbal mint flavored green tea. Have you tried this?

When people talk about herbal tea it isnt really 'tea'; herbal tea is basically just steeped herbs or flowers. Real tea (regular or decaf) is from tea leaves. Rooibos comes in right in between the two.

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
