Pepcid Complete (not quite the same thing as Pepcid AC) contains a drug called famotidine which blocks the production of stomach acid. It also contains the antacids calcium carbonate - the active ingredient of products like Tums - and magnesium hydroxide - the active ingredient of products like Phillips' Milk of Magnesia.
Antacids like Tums work faster while Pepcid takes long to take effect but works longer.

I took pepcid ac origional strength an hour ago..maybe the tums and pepcid ac seem to not work is because I'm not having acid..but feeling the effects in the back of my mouth and a litle in my throat? maybe a combination of the pepermint capsules and foods I ate really irritated me one day and thats why I feel a soreness,a rawness?
