hi! I am new and I have no idea if I am posting in the right spot. I couldn't find a spot for symtoms. I am having a colonoscopy this Wednesday (man, election night will be a ball...just take a tv in the bathroom with me) Anyway, 2 ultrasounds have ruled out gynological problems although I swear my pain feels just like an ovary would. I went again today just to make sure before they do this test and she assured me that everything girly feels just fine. She felt around on my stomach and asked me how long it had been since i had a BM. How embarrassing! I told her 3 days which is very normal for me. 2-3 days. She thinks it is that but for those of you with diagnosed IBS, can it cause a pain in just one spot? It doesn't seem to be affected when I finally do go to the bathroom. It is on my left side right across from my hip bone. My family is full of IBS but they always lean toward the diarreah. And none have sharp pains that they'd swear was an ovary. Could this be IBS?

I generally only have pain in one spot right under my right rib. However you can feel pain practically in any part of your abdomen. Pain won't always relived by a BM. So yes it could be IBS but the scope will rule out other causes. Have you seen the sticky not to the Crohns and colitis board about surviving the scope test - I'm planning on using it if I get sent for one.

I have pain in just one spot sometimes too, in my lower abdomen next to my belly button (to the right). It is usually a gas bubble, and I can move it around with my hand. Most of the time, when it is there long enough, my whole mid section becomes bloated and very painful even to the touch. My boss told me that she had read that the symptoms of bloating and pain are sometimes underlying symptoms of ovarian cancer. I don't want to alarm you, but these are symptoms. I had it checked out, and I don't have ovarian cancer, but make sure your doctor does the blood test for it, just to rule it out. However, pain in one spot usually does not last too long, it will cover the whole abdomen within an hour or so. These are just my symptoms, so don't go by just that. Hope this helps.
