Hi all,
I have a skin condition known as rosacea, which sometimes -- as in my case -- causes a burning sensation in the eyes. The typical treatment for this is a course of antiobiotics (doxycycline). I told my dermatologist I was hesitant to take this medication, because I was concerned that doing so would offset the progress I've made in controlling my IBS. She said that the antibiotic is designed such that it should not affect the intestinal flora.

I was just curious if anyone has suggestions (affirmations/rebuttals) regarding this explanation?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Chris

I also have rosacea and my dermatologist never even suggested antibiotic therapy. She did suggest a facial wash and lotion for my skin. Also, she gave me a great suncream with a high spf.

you could take the antibiotic and use some probiotics to off set any damage.
