Hi All,
I am a long time IBS sufferer, but my 17 yr old son was just recently diagnosed with IBS. During the diagnostic processes, they also did a bunch of tests for allergies. One of those tests came back with a positive test for soy allergies. Since IBS guidelines say to substitute soy products for dairy products, I am now at a loss as to how to cook for him (and myself, since we eat the same meals). I am not allergic to soy but am sensitive to dairy. Any ideas out there???

There are dairy substitutes also made of rice. I'm not allergic to soy, but I seem to tolerate the rice milk, etc., better than the soy.

Here are some links to get you started, it is possible so don't be daunted by the task! I recommend looking at diets for children w/autism because they are generally free of gluten/casein/dairy and many are soy-free as well. Good luck!
Tori's Gluten-Free, Casein-Free, Soy Free Stuff.... We use many of the products she recommends so let me know if you have questions about them.
GFCF Recipes This is an outstanding resource - very credible and up to date - LOTS of recipes...
web page This sounds good and she has additional links to look at.

I have had great success with almond milk to substitute in receipes. There is a vanilla flavor that is great for cereals, and the plain flavor to cook with.

If your son can't handle the soy then perhaps he can handle rice milk. I'm particularly found of the rice dream products.
I particular like using the rice milk in banana smoothies.
