I wrote a few days ago saying I was going to San Francisco and looking for travel advice. I got here yesterday morning and so far things are going HORRIBLE. I am actually outside of San Fran at a golf resort, but I will be heading up to the city itself on Monday. Anyways, I have gone to the bathroom 3 times since being here (I was stable before, going once each night around 7pm). It hasn't been D, but still odd. Then the bloating is HORRIBLE. It wasn't perfect at home but here every time I eat something I get so bloated and its REALLY painful. I have eaten 4 meals here and I've had to send back three of them despite being very clear about what I wanted the first time. Still though, I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary, all things I eat at home. Even when I had a few pretzels for a snack today I got ridiculously bloated. I don't know what to do...I'm still on a trip for 9 more days. Has this happened to anyone? Could it be just the plane and change of schedule? It really hurts!

I think I know what's going on just by reading your post: YOU ARE STRESSED OUT!!!! And you're only making it harder on yourself!! If you aren't eating anything out of the ordinary, then calm down.

Are you exercising? Try starting each morning with a relaxing walk. Get a massage. Try meditating. Tell your body to calm down and that you are NOT going to let IBS ruin your vacation. Yes, I'm being serious! I think you had yourself so worried about what MIGHT happen on this trip, that it IS happening.

I'm really not trying to belittle what you're going through; I've been through it myself. But I've usually found that my IBS takes a bit of a holiday when I'm on vacation, because my stress level goes down so much.

Try to relax, eat safe, and enjoy your trip!!
